Infrastructure & Cloud

Infrastructure refers to the underlying hardware and software components that support an organisation’s IT systems, whilst the cloud is a model of delivering IT resources and services over the internet.

Infrastructure and Cloud are two closely related concepts in technology. Infrastructure refers to the underlying hardware and software components that support an organisation’s IT systems. This includes servers, storage, networks, and data centres, which are used to run applications, store data, and provide connectivity.

On the other hand, the cloud is a model of delivering IT resources and services over the internet. Instead of maintaining and managing their infrastructure, organisations can use cloud services to access computing resources, storage, and software on demand. This includes Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

Cloud computing allows organisations to scale their resources up or down as needed, pay only for what they use, and access the latest technologies without the need for significant upfront investments. This makes it a cost-effective and flexible solution for organisations of all sizes. Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are examples of popular cloud providers.

Infrastructure and cloud are closely related and often used together, with organisations using cloud services to run their infrastructure, or using infrastructure to support their cloud services.
